Cheshire 3 Peaks Half Marathon
The Cheshire 3 Peaks Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile loop that starts and finishes at Tegg’s Nose Country Park above Macclesfield. The route visits the three highest tops in Cheshire and covers varied terrain including trails, fell sections and forest tracks. The total ascent on the course is 847 m, so many participants will mix running with walking on the steeper climbs. Organisers allow a four hour cut off for completion and there is a 2 hour 15 minute checkpoint at the Cat and Fiddle main road crossing.
From the park the route climbs to Tegg’s Nose with open views, then descends to Tegg’s Nose reservoir before a fairly flat section through Macclesfield Forest and past Trentabank car park. The course includes the ascent of Shuttlingsloe, panoramic viewpoints, a descent toward Clough House and the final climb to Shining Tor, the highest point in Cheshire. The closing miles are described as bumpy underfoot with changing scenery rather than sustained steep climbs.
The event returned for a second running in 2026 following an inaugural edition in 2025. Recorded course best times from 2025 are 1:44:51 for the male record and 2:10:03 for the female record. The finish at Tegg’s Nose provides an opportunity to collect a finish medal and to replenish after the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
