Event overview
The Peak District Challenge 2026 is organised by Wilderness Development and takes place on 18-19 September 2026 in Hathersage (S32 1DU). The event offers options to trek or run over multiple distances, with navigation required for some entries. Teams and individuals are provided with GPS trackers that cover movement around the whole course in real time. Entrants may fundraise for charities; any sponsorship given to a chosen charity is passed on in full.
Routes, entry and support
Available challenge distances include:
- 25 km (Copper Challenge) - circular route from Hathersage to Baslow and back via Curbar and Froggatt edges
- 50 km (Bronze) - 1,200 m total ascent, highest point 464 m, 12 hour cutoff
- 75 km (Silver) - 2,000 m ascent, 24 hour cutoff
- 100 km (Gold) - 3,200 m ascent, 24 hour cutoff
- 100 miles - approximately 5,000 m ascent, 24 hour cutoff
Entry types and provisions: self-navigating entries are priced between £61 and £99 depending on distance and include a route guide booklet, GPS tracker for the team, checkpoint drinks and snacks, bag care, and a hot meal and goody bag at the finish. Guided walking groups are available for an additional £29 and include a Mountain Leader qualified guide, safety equipment, and an average group size of 12.
