Peak District Challenge 2026 : event overview
The Peak District Challenge 2026 is an organised trek or run taking place on 18-19 September 2026 in Hathersage (S32 1DU). The event is run by Wilderness Development, which has operated the original Peak District Challenge since 2013. Entries include a hot meal at the finish, a goody bag, bag care and full safety support. All teams are provided with a GPS tracker that covers movement around the course in real time. Organisers state that staff are experienced and qualified. A full pre-entry factsheet and compulsory kit list are available for entrants.
Routes, distances and entry options
Participants can choose from multiple challenge distances:
- 25 km - Copper Challenge, 9 hour cutoff, circular route via Hathersage, Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt edges
- 50 km - Bronze Challenge, 12 hour cutoff, about 1200 m ascent, highest point 464 m
- 75 km - Silver Challenge, 24 hour cutoff, about 2000 m ascent
- 100 km - Gold Challenge, 24 hour cutoff, about 3200 m ascent
- 100 miles - Ultra, 24 hour cutoff, about 5000 m ascent
Entries may be self-navigating or in guided walking groups. Self-navigating entries include a route guide booklet, GPS tracker for the team, and checkpoint food and drink. Guided groups carry an additional fee and include a Mountain Leader qualified guide and provided safety equipment; average guided group size is 12. Entry fees vary by distance.
