High Peak 40 Challenge

The High Peak 40 Challenge is an ultramarathon covering 40 miles around the Peak District. The route starts and finishes in Buxton and returned in 2024 after an eight year hiatus. The next edition is scheduled for Saturday 18th September 2027.

The course follows a mix of trails, paths and roads and passes through several named locations: Goyt Valley, Eccles Pike, over and through Mam Tor, Cave Dale, Tideswell and the Monsal Trail. The route includes a climb out of a Deep Dale, a long road section to Chelmorten and a rapid in and out of another Deep Dale.
