High Peak 40 Challenge

The High Peak 40 Challenge is an ultramarathon of 40 miles held in the Peak District. The route starts and finishes in Buxton. After an eight-year hiatus the event returned in 2024. The next edition, which will mark the event's 40th year anniversary, is scheduled for Saturday 19 September 2026.

Route

The course uses trails, paths and roads around the Peak District. It passes through Goyt Valley, past Eccles Pike, over and through Mam Tor, Cave Dale, Tideswell and the Monsal Trail. The route also includes a climb out of a Deep Dale, a long road section to Chelmorten and an in-and-out section of another Deep Dale.
