Charnwood Challenge - Race information
The Charnwood Challenge on Sunday 4 October 2026 is an off-road event for runners and walkers through the Charnwood countryside. The main course is similar to previous years, with minor changes to start and finish locations due to a new event HQ.
Distances:
- Approximately 10 miles main off-road route
- 1 mile (1.6 km) junior fun run on a cross-country type route
The route includes rough and uneven ground such as rocks, mud, tree roots and wet grass, plus steep climbs and descents. Some sections are rural and remote from road access; parts of a permissive path alongside the stream after the Dean’s Lane road crossing are eroded in places, and low tree branches or overgrowth may be present. Participants enter and run or walk at their own risk and are subject to the event disclaimer accepted with entry.
Entry fees vary by date and category, with early, mid and late rates for adults, and reduced fees for juniors and the junior challenge. Dogs are not permitted on the course. A water station is provided at about 5.5 miles and water is available at the finish; reusable bottles can be refilled. Registration at the HQ covers number collection and publicity preferences. Toilets and refreshments are available at the HQ; secure bag storage is provided. First aid cover is provided on course and at HQ. Prizes are awarded in established runner and walker categories. An ARC permit has been applied for. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
