Event overview
The Cedar Grove Scamper is a 4 mile road and trail race held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Cedar Grove Picnic Area in Bidwell Park, Chico, CA. The event is organized by Chico Running Club and proceeds benefit the club's programs, including a scholarship fund and local running events. There are two race divisions: Open Division (all ages) and Master's Division (age 40+). Prizes will be awarded to top finishers in each division. Member registration options are offered at a reduced fee for Chico Running Club members.
Course and logistics
The course is a 4 mile loop through lower Bidwell Park with mixed surfaces: pavement and dirt trail. The route crosses Forest Avenue bridge to the north side of Big Chico Creek, runs up Peterson Memorial Drive, returns on the Vallombrosa dirt trail, and comes back via South Park Drive after the Highway 99 over-crossing, starting and finishing at Cedar Grove picnic area. Parking is available at the Cedar Grove dirt lot with overflow on East 8th Street. One water station is located at the halfway point; water and snacks are available at the start and finish. Bibs are provided to all entrants and timing is administered by Chico Running Club. Registered participants who chose the shirt option by the specified deadline will receive a shirt at check-in.
