The Cedar Grove Scamper is a 4 mile running event organized by the Chico Running Club. It takes place in Chico, California. The event supports the club's non-profit mission, which includes a scholarship fund and the support of local running events and runners.
Event Details
The race is held at the Cedar Grove Picnic Area in Bidwell Park. Parking is available at the Cedar Grove dirt lot, with overflow parking on East 8th Street.
The course is a 4 mile loop through lower Bidwell Park, starting and ending at the Cedar Grove picnic area. The surface is a mix of pavement and dirt trail. The route begins on South Park Drive, crosses the Forest Avenue bridge to the north side of Big Chico Creek, proceeds up Peterson Memorial Drive, and returns via the Vallombrosa dirt trail before turning back onto South Park Drive.
Two participant divisions are offered: an Open Division for all ages and a Masters Division for participants aged 40 and over. Prizes are awarded to the top finishers in each division. Chico Running Club members receive a 50% discount on registration.
Logistics
All participants receive a race bib. Packet pick-up is available at Fleet Feet on the Friday before the race. Bib pick-up is also available on race day at Cedar Grove starting at 7:30 AM. Timing for the event is managed by the Chico Running Club.
One water station is located at the halfway point of the course. Water and snacks are available at the start and finish areas, and park bathrooms are accessible at Cedar Grove. Participants who registered before a specified date and selected the paid shirt option will receive one. Drinks and snacks are provided after the race.
