The Capital Turkey Trot 5k & 10k
The Capital Turkey Trot takes place at Fletcher’s Boathouse in Washington, DC, on Thanksgiving morning. This event offers participants a scenic route along the C&O Canal Path. The course is an out-and-back route featuring a flat, light gravel trail with no major elevation gains.
Available distances include:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The event is open to runners, walkers, and strollers. Participants in the 10 km distance will pass three water stations at approximately mile markers 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65, while those in the 5 km distance will have access to one water station at mile marker 1.55. Gatorade is available at selected stations. For those unable to attend the physical event, a virtual run option is also available.
Registered participants receive a technical (Drifit) event shirt, a finisher’s medal, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for those registered by November 11. Results are posted live, and runners can opt for mobile tracking updates. The race serves as a fundraiser for Warriors Ethos, an organization that assists service members, veterans, and their families with career planning and professional development.
Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall, as well as the top two finishers in various age categories ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. Points from this race contribute to the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Back of the Pack, and Fall Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
