About the race
The Port City Turkey Trot is a pre-Thanksgiving road race held in Alexandria, Virginia, with routes that start and end near Port City Brewing and follow Holmes Run. The event offers both a 5 km and a 10 km course.
The course is described as fairly flat and paved, with a short light-gravel out-and-back section near the start. The 10 km consists of the out-and-back segment completed twice. Water stations and Gatorade are placed along the courses: five stations on the 10 km at approximately miles 1, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, and 5.2, and two stations on the 5 km at approximately miles 1 and 2.1. Restrooms are available at Port City Brewing.
Runners receive one glass of beer from Port City Brewing, a finisher medal, a technical Dri-fit event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrants before November 11; extras are ordered afterward on a first-come, first-served basis. Packet pickup is offered Friday evening at Road Runner Sports in Arlington and also at the event. Race day registration is available, with limited shirt size availability for same-day registrants. Registration fees increase after October 31 and rise again on race morning.
The race supports Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, posts live results on Athlinks with a QR code at the event, and offers a virtual race option. Final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
