The Cape Clear Island Races take place on Cape Clear Island (Inis Cleire), Ireland's southernmost inhabited island. The event offers two trail running distances: a Half Marathon and a 10km race. The courses use the island's hiking trails and quiet lanes, featuring fuchsia plants. Runners can expect views of Roaringwater Bay islands, Fastnet Rock Lighthouse, and vistas towards Sherkin Island and the mainland. Cape Clear Island is a Gaeltacht area with a population of around 130, known for fishing, farming, arts, crafts, lavender production, and a distillery.
