MTC MizMal
The MTC MizMal is a fourteen day end to end foot race across Ireland that follows the MizMal route from Mizen Head to Malin Head. The event covers approximately 612 miles (611.8 miles listed) with total ascent around 17,945 ft and total descent around 18,090 ft. Entrant numbers are limited to 20 and entrants must be at least 20 years old on the race start day.
Each day is an individual ultra and awards bespoke medals. All finishers receive a bespoke trophy, an overall MizMal medal and other finisher items. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and competitor tracking devices with SOS functionality are issued for monitoring during the event. The organiser sets a minimum average speed requirement of 4 mph and enforces nightly cutoffs; runners who do not meet these requirements may be withdrawn.
Competitors are required to carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and basic first aid. Accommodation is provided by the organiser from the end of Day 1 to the end of Day 12; competitors are responsible for booking accommodation at the race start and after the final day finish. The organiser maintains rules on checkpoints, retirement, and equipment and reserves the right to alter routes for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
