The event serves as an annual fundraiser for the Cancer Kickers Soccer Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in Memphis in 2016. The organization assembles and delivers custom soccer kits that include jerseys, balls, gear, and personalized touches. More than 3,200 children have received kits to date. It costs $300 to deliver one complete kit; the event materials note equivalences such as every relay team supporting one child, every four 50K runners supporting one child, and every three 50 mile runners supporting one child. Course logistics note three aid stations that provide water and Hammer Nutrition Heed electrolyte drink, along with GU Rocktane and regular gels, Hammer gels, PB&J, oranges, bananas, chips, granola bars, cookies, candy, and gummies. Relay team packets contain all bibs, shirts, and an ankle timing chip; the relay exchange is located just beyond the start finish split line.
