The Caldwell Classic 5K Run/Walk & Family Fun Run
The Caldwell Classic is an annual memorial run presented by the Caldwell-West Caldwell Education Foundation that honors the legacies of two of the foundation's founding members. The event is centered at James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell, New Jersey, and combines timed and untimed distances for participants of different ages.
Events
- 5K Run/Walk (timed)
- 1 Mile Fun Run (not timed)
Course details describe the 1-mile fun run as a loop beginning and ending at James Caldwell High School that is repeated twice. The 5K course starts and finishes at the high school, follows Westville Avenue through a park and past a pond, returns via Brookside and Westville Avenue, and provides a water station approximately every mile.
Onsite offerings include registration and bib pick-up, a children's area with temporary tattoos and coloring pages, DJ music, a display fire truck, and sponsor giveaways. A short children's dash for ages up to five is organized on site without mandatory registration; participants who require an event shirt are asked to register for the 1-mile event.
Awards recognize top male and female overall finishers and first through third place male and female finishers in age groups (7 and under, 8-9, 10-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over). Finisher medals are provided to all registered participants. Early bib pick-up is offered at a local physical therapy office and tentatively at several Caldwell and West Caldwell elementary schools.
