The Bulldog Ultra
The Bulldog Ultra is a long-running trail race series held in the Santa Monica Mountains at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas, CA. The event offers multiple distances that use single track and fire roads with ocean views and steep, sustained climbs. Temperatures in the canyons can become very high, and the course includes both exposed and shaded sections.
Distances offered:
- 25k Trail, 14.87 miles, 2,947 ft climbing
- 50k Ultra, 29.4 miles, 5,784 ft climbing
- 75k 3X Ultra, three-loop configuration
All aid stations are described as fully stocked and use Skratch Labs hydration products. The 50k course provides a second-loop aid station that includes toilets and space for drop bags and pacers. The races are cupless and use chip timing with same-day results; finishers receive custom medals and a race shirt or tank. Awards include podium places for overall and age group categories across distances and a published prize purse for the 50k plus a course record bonus for the 25k. Event amenities at the finish area include post-race food, a beer garden, sports massage, music and free race photos. The organizer notes strict cut-off checkpoints on course and enforces rules to monitor runner safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
