Event Overview
The Blue Move is an annual event held in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to support the fight against colorectal cancer. The event follows an out-and-back course on a designated paved trail along the Big Sioux River. Participants start and finish at Fawick Park.
Educational facts about colorectal cancer are provided every half mile along the route. The finish line features a large, inflatable colon for participants to run through. Proceeds from the event help fund screenings for underserved patients at Falls Community Health.
Available distances include:
- 5k
- 1 Mile
Participant Information
The event is accessible to families and those with pets. Children 10 and under participate for free. Dogs are permitted on the course provided they are kept on a leash, and strollers are also allowed. A youth-sized t-shirt is available for purchase for children. Participants who register by late July are eligible for a swag bag and t-shirt, which are guaranteed for the first 100 registrants.
Awards and Categories
Recognition is provided for several categories in the 5k event, including the top two male and female runners, the top two runners aged 15 and under, and the fastest five-person team. Fun awards are also distributed to the most "blue" participant, the first person to register, and the person who traveled the farthest distance to attend.
