About the race
The Blue Move is a community running and walking event on August 14, 2027, held at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls. The course is an out and back on a designated paved trail that follows the Big Sioux River.
Distances include:
- 5K
- 1 Mile walk
- Kids Run: 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and 1 mile (ages 10 and under)
The event raises funds to support colorectal cancer services. Every half mile along the course participants encounter informational stations about colorectal cancer, and the finish line passes through a large inflatable colon. Net proceeds help fund colonoscopies for underserved patients of Falls Community Health in Sioux Falls.
Entry fees are stated for each event; a kids run participation fee is specified separately and children 10 and under may participate for free in the main events. T shirts and a swag bag are reserved for the first 100 registered participants who meet the organizer deadline of July 27. Dogs on leash and strollers are allowed.
Awards are given for top finishers in the 5K including top two male and female runners and top two runners age 10 to 15, plus fun awards such as most blue participant and door prizes. ADA accommodations are available through the Human Relations Office. If the event is cancelled for weather, refunds will not be given.
