The Blue Move
The Blue Move is the 10th annual community event held on August 14, 2027, at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls. The event features a main 5K run, a 1 Mile walking event, and a kids run with separate distances for participants age 10 and under. The course is an out and back on a designated paved trail that follows the Big Sioux River and finishes by running through a large inflatable colon. Educational stations with facts about colorectal cancer are placed every half mile along the route.
Event proceeds help fund colonoscopies for underserved patients of Falls Community Health in Sioux Falls. Children age 10 and under participate for free. Registration fees listed by the organizer are $25 for the 5K and the 1 Mile, and $10 for the kids run. T-shirts and a swag bag are guaranteed for the first 100 participants who register by 7/27. Youth small t-shirts are available for purchase for $10. Dogs on leash and strollers are allowed on the course.
Awards for the 5K include top two male and top two female runners and top two runners ages 10 to 15. Additional fun awards include Most BLUE Participant, First Person to Register if present, and Farthest Distance Traveled if present. ADA accommodations are available through the Human Relations Office. If the event is cancelled due to weather, participants will be notified by email and Facebook; refunds will not be given for cancellations.
