The Blade Runner
The Blade Runner is a 7 mile multi terrain race held on 21 June 2026. The course starts and finishes at wind turbines on the Oakdale plateau and uses the lanes to loop the village of Manmoel. The event has been selected as one of the East Wales Clubs Road Championship events for 2026.
Participants must be at least 16 years old on race day. Entry fees are listed as £12.00 for UK Athletics registered runners and £14.00 for non affiliated runners, plus a small booking fee; a service fee of 4 percent (minimum 50p) applies to sign ups. A Welsh Athletics Race Licence has been applied for under UKA Rules. Distance is given as approximate.
All finishers receive a commemorative race buff. The awards ceremony takes place at the finish line after the race. Prize categories include first three male and first three female overall, male veteran categories 40, 50 and 60 plus, female veteran categories 35, 45 and 55 plus, and first male and first female team with three to score.
Race headquarters and the start line are located outside Braces Bakery in Oakdale. Entries will be available on the day and parking is described as ample. The course is undulating and is unsuitable for wheelchair athletes. Registrations request a predicted race time to assist with volunteer planning.
