Event Overview
The Bishop's Stortford Mitre 10k, 5k, and 1k is a fundraising event organized by The Bishop's Stortford High School. All proceeds benefit The Mitre Fund, a registered charity, for the development of new community sports facilities. The event takes place at Jobbers Wood in Much Hadham and follows professionally measured routes through country lanes in East Hertfordshire.
The available distances include:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 km
Course and Participation
The courses consist of undulated, traffic-free roads. The 10 km and 5 km routes start and finish at the Jobbers Wood sports ground and pavilion, following a circuit through Much Hadham. The 1 km race is held at the Jobbers Wood site following the longer races and is restricted to children under the age of 11. Participants in the 10k or 5k races are chip timed.
The event offers free on-site parking at Jobbers Wood, located off the B1004. Access is available before road closures take effect in the surrounding area.
Awards and Amenities
Participants in the 10 km and 5 km receive a finisher's T-shirt with a unique annual design, though runners may choose to have a tree planted in their name as an alternative. Trophies are awarded to the top three men and women, as well as winners in age categories over 40, 50, and 60. There is also a trophy for the fastest running club team. Children finishing the 1 km race receive medals and certificates.
The site provides refreshments, including tea, coffee, and snacks. An organized warm-up session is available before the races. Race packs can be collected at Jobbers Wood the day before the event or on the morning of the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
