The Birmingham Triathlon
The Birmingham Triathlon takes place at King Edward’s School, Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham on Saturday 1st August 2026. The event uses a heated indoor pool for the swim and a grass lapped circuit for the cycle leg, with additional grass run routes. The cycle and run courses are traffic-free and marked with posts and tape; the cycle course is described as flat with some undulation. Organisers will cut the grass shortly before the event.
Multiple race distances are offered, including a sprint and three shorter distances, and a sprint relay option is available. Main races have a minimum age of 14 on race day. A separate kids fun triathlon for ages 5–16 is organised on the Saturday.
Facilities at the venue include hot and cold food, refreshments, toilets, and open spaces suitable for spectators and picnics. All competitors receive an official finisher medal and electronic chip timing is used. Competitors must count their own pool lengths and laps on the bike and run, and wearing a cycle helmet on the bike section is compulsory.
Relay teams may consist of two or three people; each team member completes one or two disciplines and passes the electronic chip in the transition area. Spaces are limited and there is also an option to register via a charity route with fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
