Event overview

The Big 50 is a trail running event at F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain, Georgia. The race uses a point-to-point route along the Pine Mountain Trail that starts at the radio tower in Warm Springs and finishes at the Liberty Bell Pool in the park. The course is single-track trail with climbs and descents and covers the entire Pine Mountain Trail. This edition marks the event's tenth year and the park's first point-to-point trail race.

Logistics and services

The 50K course includes five aid stations at miles 5, 11, 16, 23, and 29. The 25K course includes two aid stations at miles 5 and 11. All runners must carry some form of hydration. Crew access is allowed at all aid stations except the mile 5 station.

Buses are available for runners who purchase a bus ticket; buses transport participants from the finish area to the start. Runners without a bus pass must provide their own transportation.

All participants who register by April 15 receive a Big 50 hat. All finishers receive a medal. The top three male and top three female finishers in each race receive overall awards. The first overall finisher in each race receives a free entry to a 2027 Bootlegger Trail race.

Registration closes April 30 at 11:59 PM ET. A full refund is available until three months before the race; after that there are no refunds. A post-race hotdog cookout is provided for finishers and guests. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
