Event overview

Small Town Christmas 34 Hour is a 34-hour ultrarunning event held on December 5, 2026 in Valley, Alabama. The course is a repeated 2-mile loop along the banks of the Chattahoochee River at Shawmut Airport. Runners cover the loop repeatedly over the 34-hour period. Past editions produced several 100-mile finishes and multiple distance personal records.

Purpose and setting

The event is linked to a local holiday tradition: a carousel in the small town set up each year for children at no charge. That tradition began as an outreach by local textile mills and now continues largely through donations from local businesses and support from the city. The race serves as an aid to help carry on this carousel tradition.

Registration and awards

Registration closes December 4, 2026. Registered runners who meet the T-shirt deadline of November 25, 2026 will receive an event T-shirt. Each finisher receives a unique finisher award. Runners who reach 100 miles receive a custom MuddyCrudd belt buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
