Event overview
The Holiday Hootie Hoo is a trail race held at F.D.R. State Park on Pine Mountain, Georgia. It includes two race distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The event is part of the Southern Singletrack Trail Series and is described as the series finale. A portion of proceeds will benefit the park, the Pine Mountain Trail Association, and the Humane Society of Harris County.
Course and entry details
The half marathon route includes rock outcroppings, hardwood and longleaf pine stands, rock formations, springs, and creek crossings. The 10K route uses the Mountain Creek Nature Trail Loop and part of the Long Leaf Loop. Both courses run on rocky, root-filled singletrack with leaf cover. The 10K has one aid station and the half marathon has about two to three aid stations. Registration closes in advance; there is no race-day registration. Entry fees listed are $70 for the 10K and $85 for the half marathon, with higher prices after November 22. No transfers, refunds, or deferments are allowed. Each runner receives a race hoodie and a finisher award; hoodie size is not guaranteed for late registrants. A $5 parking fee per vehicle applies in Georgia State Parks. The organizer collects canned or bagged pet food for the Humane Society of Harris County; in 2022 the race delivered over 340 pounds of food.
