The Basilisk

The Basilisk is a trail race held at Camelback Resort in Pennsylvania on October 4th, 2026. The course runs on a double black diamond ski slope and uses a 2.5 mile loop that covers just under 900 feet of elevation gain and descent per lap.

Participants choose from multiple distance options on the same loop. All distances are chip timed. The 10 mile option can be run as an individual event or as a team of two in a relay. In the relay each team member must complete two laps for a total of four laps, and only one runner may be on the course at a time. The active runner must carry the timing chip while on course.

A ruck division is available for any distance; competitors may add weight and must check in at bib pickup with their chosen weight. There are no official awards for the ruck division but finishers receive a Basilisk patch.

The event operates as a zero carbon race with an offset fee included in registration to account for event emissions and personal travel. Organizers will also collect monetary donations for Runners For Public Lands. The event accepts shoe donations for Sneakers 4 Good, with funds supporting Wildlands Conservancy. Volunteer opportunities are offered before, during, and after the event; volunteers may earn future race entry credits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
