The MT. TAMMANY 10
The MT. TAMMANY 10 is an approximately 40.0 mile trail event in the Delaware Water Gap, New Jersey area. The event is presented as "10 Climbs, over 10000 ft of gain, in 10 HRs." The Start/Finish location is at the Kittatinny Parking Lot Pavilion.
Runners follow a loop route that begins at the Kittatinny Parking Lot Pavilion and proceeds to the Dunnfield parking lot. From Dunnfield they take the Red-Dot trail to the summit of Mt. Tammany, then transition onto the blue-blaze trail for about 1/2 mile before descending Mt. Tammany. After crossing the river, the route uses the Appalachian Trail for about 1/3 mile back to the Dunnfield parking area, where the next ascent begins. This sequence is repeated for a total of ten loops.
At the end of every 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th loop participants must return to the Start/Finish Pavilion for check-in and loop verification. Aid will be posted in the Dunnfield Parking Area.
The course covers rugged trail terrain and includes mountain views and waterfalls. The organizer notes that the route can produce slow miles and that runners may encounter falls, bruises, strains, sprains, or cuts due to the terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
