The Barley Chase
The Barley Chase is a USATF certified community race in Newport, North Carolina, starting and finishing at Shortway Brewing Company and following courses through the heart of Newport. The event offers two distance options and provides water stations at the halfway point of each course.

- 10k
Participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal, and adult runners are given two bib stubs redeemable for post-run pints at a designated beer tent; stubs must match the bib. Runners under 21 may redeem for sodas. Food trucks will be onsite during the after party. T-shirt size is not guaranteed for registrations after August 31.
Awards are presented to the overall top three males and females and to the top two finishers in each age division for both sexes. Age divisions are: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & above.
Packet pickup is available Saturday, October 17, 12:00 PM–2:00 PM at Shortway Brewing Company, or the morning of the race at the registration table behind the brewery on Haskett Street. Online registration closes at 11:59 PM on October 16 or when the race sells out; a waitlist operates on a first-come, first-served basis with 24 hours to claim an available spot.
