5K Celebration
The Fall Celebratory 5K (3.1 miles) is the season-closing event for Girls on the Run Bay Area. It is presented as a non-timed, celebratory 5K that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Program participants receive a commemorative medal and a Girls on the Run Bay Area-branded gift as part of participation.
The event is scheduled for November 14, 2026 at Marina Park in San Leandro, CA and is described as rain or shine. Strollers and pets are welcome and the course is intended to be accessible; the council expects around 1,500 participants. Family members, friends and community members outside of the program can take part but must register. Program participants and coaches are registered automatically when they enroll in the current season and do not need to register separately.
A Running Buddy is a designated adult who completes the 5K alongside a participant and serves as a motivator, pace-setter and cheerleader. Registered Running Buddies who are not known to the participant’s family are assigned to a team and matched on event day at team tables. Merchandise will be available for purchase at a booth. Volunteers support set-up and tear down, registration, course marshals, water stations and cheer stations.
