5K Celebration
The event is a season-ending celebratory 5K held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at Marina Park in San Leandro, CA. The 5K distance is 3.1 miles and the event is presented as a non-timed, celebratory experience rather than a competitive race. Every program participant receives a commemorative medal.
Registration fees are listed as $45 through October 21 and $55 after that date; the fee includes a non-timed runner bib and a Girls on the Run Bay Area branded gift. Program participants and coaches are registered automatically when they register for the current season and do not need to register separately.
The event welcomes strollers and pets, though the course may be crowded in spots with an expected field of around 1,500 participants. The council sells merchandise onsite. The 5K is held rain or shine and course conditions are expected to allow running or walking regardless of weather.
The event uses Running Buddies, individuals designated to complete the course alongside a participant to serve as motivator, pace-setter and cheerleader. Volunteers support setup and tear down, registration, course marshalling, water stations and cheer stations. Local and national sponsors support the event and help underwrite its costs.
