Girls on the Run Bay Area 5K
The Girls on the Run Bay Area 5K is a season-closing celebratory event held at Marina Park in San Leandro, CA on Saturday November 14, 2026. The event is a non-competitive 5K distance (3.1 miles) intended to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Everyone in the program receives a commemorative medal.
Runner registration includes a non-timed bib and a Girls on the Run Bay Area branded gift. Registration pricing is $45 through October 21 and $55 after that date. Program participants and coaches are registered for the 5K automatically when they register for the current season.
The event welcomes strollers and pets and typically draws a large field; organizers expect around 1500 participants. The 5K is presented as a fun, celebratory occasion rather than a timed race, with most participants completing the course in roughly 30 to 50 minutes and faster participants finishing in about 25 minutes. The event is held rain or shine.
A Running Buddy role is available for those paired with a participant to run the course alongside them as motivator, pace setter and cheerleader; assigned team pairings are confirmed before the event and finalized at team tables on event day. Volunteers support setup, registration, course marshaling, water stations and cheer stations. Local and national sponsors support the event and help cover event costs.
