About the race
Girls on the Run Bay Area’s season-ending celebratory 5K gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment at the close of each season. The event is non-competitive and open to participants of all abilities; everyone who participates is encouraged to walk, roll, push, run, or skip at their own pace. Typical completion times vary, with faster participants finishing in about 25 minutes and most finishing between 30 and 50 minutes.
The Fall Celebratory 5K takes place on November 14, 2026, at Marina Park in San Leandro, CA. Program participants and coaches who register for the season are automatically registered for the 5K. Individual runner registration includes a non-timed bib and a Girls on the Run Bay Area branded gift; the pre-October 21 price is $45 and increases to $55 afterward. All program participants receive a commemorative medal.
Strollers and pets are welcome and the course is generally accessible, though some sections may become crowded; the council expects around 1500 participants. The event is held rain or shine and on-site merchandise is available. The council uses Running Buddies who complete the 5K alongside a participant as motivators, pace-setters, and cheerleaders; assigned Running Buddies receive a team assignment by email the week of the 5K and check in at team tables on event day. Volunteers support set-up, registration, course marshals, water stations, and cheer stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
