Second Annual Run Run Rudolph 5K
The Tharptown Christmas Display hosts its second annual Run Run Rudolph 5K in Coal Township. This themed event is inspired by the classic holiday film "A Christmas Story." Both runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the event.
The route features various themed spots that reference scenes from the movie, such as the Red Ryder BB gun and the flagpole dare. Participants are encouraged to wear festive attire based on the film's characters. The race features professional timing provided by Falcon Race Timing.
Participants can compete for various awards based on performance and creativity:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, medals are presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers in male and female age groups ranging from 18 and under to 70 and over. Awards are also given for the three best "A Christmas Story" inspired costumes.
First-time registrants may receive specific giveaways, with the first 50 participants to sign up receiving a collectible Christmas ornament and a bar of soap. After crossing the finish line, all participants are provided with a slice of pizza. Event shirts are provided to those who register by the end of October.
