Texoma Challenge
Texoma Challenge is a night trail event held at Waterloo Park in Denison, Texas, on the Waterloo Trails. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
- 50K Relay
- 10K Ruck
The course runs on rooty, dirt single-track trails with rolling hills and about 500 ft elevation gain per loop. Runners use marked loops with aid stations and a main aid area; one water-only station is located on the course. Aid stations provide hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice. Participants may place drop bags near the start and finish area and are responsible for their own bags.
This is a night running event. A headlamp and a personal water-carrying system are required for all distances. Ruck participants must carry weight according to body weight: 30 lb for those over 150 lb and 20 lb for those under 150 lb; ruck sacks or vests are allowed. Pacing is permitted only on the last two loops of the open 50K, not on the relay. All events have a nine hour cutoff. Parking is limited to designated areas around Waterloo Lake Drive and nearby fields. Awards include 1st–3rd overall male and female for each distance, finisher medals for running events, a ruck patch for ruck finishers, and relay team awards.
