Tex-Mex 5K Race for Open Space 2026
The event is the 36th annual Tex-Mex 5K Race for Open Space, hosted by Tex Mex Connection in North Wales, Pennsylvania on June 24, 2026. The race benefits Wissahickon Trails, which is the main beneficiary; the partnership has raised over one million dollars to support open space, clean water, and trails. Additional donations have been made to the North Wales Police Department, North Penn Volunteer Department, Green Initiatives within North Wales Borough, and Volunteer Medical Emergency Services Lansdale.
Registration fees are tiered: $50 through May 4, 2026 and includes a guaranteed short-sleeve tech t-shirt; $55 from May 5 through June 12, 2026; and $60 beginning June 13, 2026. All registration fees are non-refundable. Registration includes a digital race finish photo, the Tex Mex Connection dinner, and one margarita or craft beer for participants age 21 and older. Participants age 21 to 30 must present in-person ID at packet pick-up.
Packet pickup is at Tex Mex Connection, 201 E Walnut St, North Wales, PA 19454, with in-person pickup offered on the day before the race and on race day. A post-race party features a live band, dinner, and an alcoholic beverage for adults age 21 and older.
Fundraising through the Green Ribbon Champion program offers VIP tent seating and additional amenities for those who donate or raise $150. Prizes and gift certificates are awarded to top finishers overall, in the masters division, and in five-year age groups. Volunteer perks include dinner, one beverage for adults 21 and older, and a $10 restaurant gift certificate. Businesses may sponsor the event to connect with participants and volunteers.
