Terra Nova Adventure Race
Terra Nova Adventure Race is a team event for pairs held at the ARC of Franschhoek by the Berg River Dam on 6 September 2026. Teams of two navigate an unmarked course using a printed map provided by the organisers. The event combines mountain biking, trekking and kayaking to locate checkpoints and reach the finish.
There are two race classes:
- Explorer : 10 km
- Challenger : 25 km
Typical discipline breakdowns for each class are:
- Explorer: about 7 km mountain bike, 2 km trekking, 1 km kayaking.
- Challenger: about 17 km mountain bike, 6 km trekking, 1–2 km kayaking.
Entries include access to the race venue, a printed race map, kayak and paddles, a finisher's medal, medical support and attendance at the prize giving ceremony. Competitors must supply their own mountain bike, compulsory cycling helmet, personal clothing and footwear, and food and refreshments. Bike spares, tools or repairs are not included. Map boards and PFD life jacket rental are available if needed.
No previous adventure racing experience is required; participants should be able to read a basic map. The event supports team entries only with two participants per team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
