Trail Running at Temple Newsam
The Tempting at Tempsey event takes place within the historic grounds of Temple Newsam in Leeds. The course offers a varied terrain through open country, gardens, and woodland. Participants run on a surface consisting of a mixture of established paths, grass, and trails. The route is described as undulating and is licensed by the Trail Running Association.
Participants can choose from four distinct distances:
- 6.7 miles (one loop)
- Half Marathon (two loops)
- 20 miles (three loops)
- Marathon (four loops)
The event features a 6.5-hour cut-off time, making the distances accessible for various experience levels. Feed and drink stations are positioned approximately every three miles along the route, providing water and a selection of food. This is a cup-less event, so runners are requested to bring their own reusable bottles or cups. For navigation, the course is signposted, and downloadable GPX files are available for participants.
The start and registration area is located at Temple Newsam House, with amenities including toilets near the registration point. Public transport options include buses that serve Temple Newsam and rail services to Leeds City Station. Paid parking is available on-site.
