Course and logistics
The main course runs from the Combaun wood entrance to the top of Templehill and back. The route includes an open mountain section with steep ascent and descent. Runners may take any route up and down provided they reach the summit; a marshal will be positioned at the cairn. There is a small car park near Combaun wood and an additional field has been provided; a €2 parking fee applies.
Mandatory kit and volunteer notes
All runners must bring Level B standard kit: a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The actual kit required to be carried may be finalised on the day and advised at registration. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification. To qualify for the end-of-year volunteer prize, two non-running volunteer roles are required in a calendar year; volunteering while running does not count toward this requirement.
Junior short course
The short course features forest trails with multiple ups and downs and is intended as a shorter option for junior competitors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
