Tempe Checkpoints
Tempe Checkpoints is a social running event held in Tempe, Arizona, starting and ending at The Shop Beer Co. Participants engage in an hour-long run through the city to visit various local spots. The event is free to join and focuses on navigating the town on foot to reach specific locations.
A map featuring the different checkpoints is revealed to participants shortly before the activity begins, while those who register in advance receive the map via email earlier in the afternoon. Runners choose their own routes between checkpoints to collect raffle tickets at each designated location. All participants must follow pedestrian traffic laws and use sidewalks and crosswalks, as streets remain open to regular vehicle traffic during the event.
The activity is strictly for runners, and the use of bicycles, scooters, skateboards, or other vehicles is not permitted. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water for hydration. Following the run, a gathering takes place at the starting venue where attendees can use their collected tickets for a prize raffle. The venue also offers food and beverages for purchase.
Parking is available via street spots around the venue and a parking garage located near the Tempe Center for the Arts. Due to limited parking, ride-sharing is suggested by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
