About the race
Tempe Checkpoints - Flex The Rules is an adventure-run event held in downtown Tempe and around Tempe Town Lake on February 3, 2026. The event is hosted at The Shop Beer Co and is presented by Exceptional Vibe, Sole Sports Running Zone, Brooks, and Balega. Approximately 150 runners are expected. The format is an hour-long adventure run with no set course.
Checkpoints are scattered through downtown and along Tempe Town Lake; participants collect raffle tickets at checkpoints and return to The Shop to enter drawings. Checkpoints farther from the start may award multiple raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are also given to participants who demo the Brooks Glycerin Flex and to those who meet the Balega representative.
A shoe demo of the all-new Brooks Glycerin Flex is available before the run. After the run there is an on-site after-party with a raffle, food truck service, and discounted beer from The Shop. Water and electrolyte drinks are provided before the run. Practical details include limited parking at The Shop and free street parking along W 1st St between Beck and Farmer Avenue. The event is not a closed course; participants must obey all traffic laws.
Other modes of wheeled transport such as scooters, bikes, and skateboards are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
