Telluride Mountain Run - Telluride, Colorado
The Telluride Mountain Run is a technical mountain race in the San Juan Mountains above the historic mining town of Telluride, Colorado. The event offers five distinct routes that vary in length and terrain.
- Hill Climb
- 14 Mile
- 24 Mile
- 40 Mile
- 65 Mile
Courses follow old mining roads, singletrack and sections of alpine tundra. Runners traverse mountain passes, exposed ridgelines and high summits. Many sections are steep, loose and extremely rocky; at times there are no defined trails. The route includes large elevation gain and reaches altitudes above 13,000 ft.
The race is described as a technical mountain race rather than a trail run. Some sections are exposed to falls, potential rockfall and hazardous weather. Safety personnel monitor portions of the route, and participants are expected to be responsible for their own safety and prepared for high-elevation conditions. The event is an Equal Opportunity Service Provider and operates under permit on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest.
