About the race
The Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run is a mountain ultramarathon held in Ouray, Colorado on August 29, 2026, organized by Ouray Ultras and based at Fellin Park. The event is a 50 mile race with a published elevation gain of 23,582 feet. The course uses technical, high-elevation trails and includes the same back 50 segment used in the Ouray 100.
Runners must meet a service requirement: each participant is required to complete eight hours of volunteer trail work or trail ultramarathon volunteering prior to August 15. Crewing, pacing, and coaching do not qualify. Participants may opt out of the service requirement by making a $100 donation to Ouray Trail Group; entrants who have not submitted the service form or paid the opt-out fee by August 22 will forfeit their registration fee and will not be permitted to participate.
The race requires competitors to carry a SPOT tracker provided by organizers; runner locations will be updated every five minutes. The event includes a published cash purse for top finishers in the 50 mile division and testing protocols: declared top male and female finishers are subject to urine and/or blood testing for selected banned substances, with a THC threshold noted in the testing policy. The event is not a UTMB qualifier. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
