Tear Drop Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The Tear Drop event stage includes three USATF certified road races that start on Fort Mountain and finish at Chatsworth City Park in Chatsworth, Georgia. Distances offered are:
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon finishing in City Park
- 6.2 Miles 10K finishing in City Park
- 3.1 Miles 5K finishing in City Park
All courses run on paved roads and pass through the Cohutta Wilderness Area. The Half Marathon features an overall elevation loss of more than 2000 feet with extended sections of 5 to 10 percent downhill grade; the 10K and 5K also include significant downhill segments. Runners use one lane of Hwy 52; cone lines and county sheriff presence are used to manage traffic and access.
Logistics include parking at the finish with shuttle buses to the mountain start areas, a SAG vehicle that follows the last runner, and clothing drop bins at each start. Water and portable toilets are provided at multiple locations: four water stations for the Half, two for the 10K and one for the 5K, with bathrooms at start areas. All finishers receive a custom medal and a short sleeve t-shirt. On-course photography, post-race hot food, cold drinks, live music, raffle prizes and beer for participants age 21 and over are part of the event.
