Tear Drop Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
The 12th annual Tear Drop event takes place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Chatsworth, Georgia. All distances start on top of Fort Mountain (near 3,000 feet elevation) and finish at Chatsworth City Park, producing an overall drop of more than 2,000 feet for the half marathon. All courses are USATF certified and run on paved roads through the Cohutta Wilderness Area and local city streets.
Course details include sustained downhill sections and sections of rolling terrain. The half marathon includes several climbs on an out-and-back portion near the start, and the courses include measured downhill segments with notable grade for each distance.
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) 7 miles of 5–10% grade downhill
- 10K 5 miles of downhill
- 5K 2 miles of downhill
Logistics note that runners park at the finish and are shuttled to start locations on Fort Mountain. The event provides bag/clothing drop at each start, a support vehicle that follows the last runner, and aid stations with water, sports drink, and portable toilets on course. Time limits apply for each distance and are enforced on the permitted state highway section.
Finish-line amenities include a finisher medal and shirt for participants, age group awards, on-course photography, post-race food and cold drinks, beer available for participants aged twenty one and over, raffle prizes, and a charity partnership with the Murray Arts Council.
