18th Annual Manatee Center Event
The Manatee Center 5K, One-Mile, and Kids Run takes place in Fort Pierce, Florida. This 18th annual event serves as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Manatee Center, a non-profit organization focused on environmental education and the conservation of the Indian River Lagoon and its ecosystems.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 5 km (timed)
- 1 mile (untimed)
- Kids Fun Run (untimed)
The 5 km route features chip timing provided by Second Wind Timing. Participants in this distance receive a technical shirt, though sizes are only guaranteed for registrations submitted by February 28. The first 350 registered participants in the 5 km receive a finisher medal. Awards are presented to overall winners, Masters, and the top three male and female finishers in age groups categorized in ten-year increments.
The 1 mile route follows the main course before turning toward the Indian River Lagoon and crossing over the Seaway Drive Bridge. This walk is not timed and does not offer competitive awards. All registrants for both the 5 km and 1 mile receive entry into a runner raffle held after the races conclude.
The Kids Fun Run is a short "out and back" course geared toward younger participants. Children who register for this run receive a kids finisher medal, and have the option to purchase an event shirt for an additional fee.
