Event Overview
The Taste of Portage Half Marathon takes place in Portage, Wisconsin, offering participants a route through the local community and its natural surroundings. The event coincides with the annual Taste of Portage Market Fair, a weekend-long festival held in the downtown area. The course features a variety of scenery, including several community parks and the paved Levee path situated along the Wisconsin River.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 3.1 miles (5K)
The start and finish lines are located in downtown Portage at the Columbia County Administration Building. Facilities at the site include parking areas and portable bathrooms. All finishers receive medals and event-specific items.
The race is part of a larger community celebration. On the evening before the race, participants can collect their packets while attending live music and food events. Following the competition on Saturday, a block party and awards ceremony are held downtown. This post-race environment includes a classic car show, sidewalk sales, various food vendors, and entertainment for children. For those traveling from outside the area, local lodging options are available in Portage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
