About the race
Taste of Portage Half Marathon and 5K takes place in downtown Portage during the Taste of Portage Market Fair on the weekend of August 28–29, 2026. The event includes two distances:
- Half Marathon route through Portage parks and along the paved Levee path on the Wisconsin River.
- 5K route through downtown Portage.
The race is presented by Aspirus Health and the course setup and timing are coordinated by Race Day Events. Start and finish are at the Columbia County Administration Building at 112 East Edgewater Street, Portage, WI. There is parking available at the administration building and portable bathrooms on site.
Packet pickup is offered at the downtown Market Square location on Friday and at the Columbia County Administration Building on Saturday. Registered participants receive t-shirts when registered by August 3 to guarantee a shirt, and medals are provided. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and to top male and female finishers in age groups: 19 and under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, and 60 and over. Awards will not be shipped and can be picked up at the Portage Chamber of Commerce office the following week if not collected at the ceremony.
A downtown post-race party and awards ceremony are part of the event, with live music, food and beverage options, kid’s entertainment, a classic car show, and sidewalk sales. Aspirus will host a sponsorship tent on site and provide basic first-aid supplies and an ambulance team for community outreach. Event photos are encouraged.
