Southend Triathlon
The Southend Triathlon, organised by JBR Run & Tri Club and RTC Events, takes place at the car park area of Uncle Toms Cabin on Shoebury Common Road in Southend-on-Sea. The event features a coastal sea swim with a mass start and a marked swim course using large buoys.
Race options include:
- Sprint Distance: 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run
- Standard Distance: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run
- Aqua Bike Standard: 1500m swim, 40k bike
- Team Relay Standard: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run (minimum three people)
- Duathlon: 2.5k run, 20k bike, 2.5k run
Entries include chip timing, a fully signposted course, a large water safety team and boat, first aid and a response vehicle, security and stewards, and a secure transition area. The event provides a bespoke metal medal, swim cap, race belt and race number. Course setup notes include XXL race buoys and an event team of 50+ staff on race day.
There are separate event waves for the Standard/Aqua Bike/Team Relay, Sprint triathlon and Duathlon. Marshals and volunteers are present along the course to support participants, and a red carpet finish is used at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
