Southend Triathlon
The Sundried Southend Triathlon is a multi-sport event held in Southend-on-Sea, starting from the car park area of Uncle Tom's Cabin on Shoebury Common Road. The event brings together the local sporting community for a competition featuring a coastal swim, cycling, and running. Participants finish their race on a red carpet.
The event offers several competition formats:
- Sprint Distance: 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run.
- Standard Distance: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run.
- Aqua Bike Standard Distance: 1500m swim and 40k bike.
- Team Relay Standard Distance: 1500m swim, 40k bike, and 10k run for teams of at least three.
The swim portion takes place in the sea with a mass start and a course marked by large race buoys. The cycling and running stages take place on local roads and paths, described by previous participants as flat. All courses are fully signposted.
Entry fees include chip timing, a secure transition area, and medical support from a first aid team with a response vehicle. A water safety team and boats monitor the swim course. Participants receive a bespoke metal medal, a race belt, a swim cap, and temporary race number tattoos. Registration is open to individuals aged 18 and over.
