TARCkey Trot, Winchester MA
The TARCkey Trot is a six-hour timed trail race held on a 5K loop at Wright Locke Farm in Winchester, Massachusetts on November 14, 2026. The loop includes rocky sections and rolling terrain, and goats are present near the course. Participants may complete as many or as few loops as they wish within the six-hour limit.
The course will be marked with flagging and signs at major intersections. Organizers provide a GPX file for download and recommend reviewing course maps in advance. If a participant goes off course they must backtrack; GPS files may be reviewed and failure to follow the marked course can affect official results. Volunteers at the aid station can assist with navigation issues.
An aid station will operate inside the barn at the start/finish of each loop. This is a cupless event; participants must use their own hydration system. The aid station typically offers electrolyte mix, soda, water, ice, banana slices, oranges, dried fruit, cookies, candy, chips, peanut butter sandwiches, and pickles, plus occasional additional items.
Online registration closes about one week before the event, there is no race-day registration, and the event often sells out. Entry fee is $35 with a youth discount available for those 19 and under. The event has a no-refund policy; pregnancy deferrals of up to two years are permitted with documentation and advance notice. The race is organized by a volunteer-led nonprofit; event profits are donated to land conservation and trusts. A Leave No Trace policy applies, and the event includes a land acknowledgement for the Pawtucket people. Adaptive athletes are welcome with appropriate accommodations and approvals.
