TARC Winter Classic - Middlesex Fells Reservation
The Trail Animals Running Club Winter Classic is a looped trail event held at the DCR Middlesex Fells Reservation in Stoneham, Massachusetts on December 5, 2026. The event offers multiple distance options over the white blazed Skyline Trail.

The course follows the existing white blazes and consists of repeated loops of the 8 mile Skyline Trail. Runners should expect roots, rocks, constant climbs and descents, and classic New England woodland scenery with occasional views of the Boston skyline. Minimal additional course marking is provided; participants are advised to review the course maps and may download the GPX file for use on GPS devices.
If a runner goes off course they must backtrack to the marked route. Organizers may review GPS files and participants who do not follow the marked course may not receive an official finish time. There are cutoffs in place to manage runner safety and volunteer and park staff time; a headlamp is required for participants who begin their final loop near the cutoff.
Aid is available at two stations: one at the loop start and one about halfway around the loop. The event is cupless so participants must carry their own hydration system. Portable restrooms with menstrual products will be provided at aid stations.
Parking is at Hall Memorial Pool and Splash Pad, 4 N Border Road, about a half mile from the start area; overflow parking will be on Fallon Road and will be directed by volunteers. The event sells out and has no refunds, transfers, or deferrals. No race day distance changes are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
