Taming of the Slough Adventure Triathlon in Moline, IL
River Action's Taming of the Slough is an adventure triathlon held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with the Bass Street YMCA in Moline, IL as the event meeting location.
The course combines paddling, mountain biking, and running along the Mississippi River and Sylvan Slough. Key course elements include:
- Paddle: 2.5 miles in Sylvan Slough
- Mountain bike: 7.5 miles total, including 5 miles off road on Sylvan Island
- Run: route includes the I 74 Bridge
Event categories include Elite Individuals, Masters Individual (ages 55+), Individual (ages 18+), Youth Individual (ages 12-17), 2-person and 3-person teams, and a Corporate Adventure Challenge 3-person team. Participants using racing kayaks must register in the Elite category.
Online registration closes September 10, 2026. Early and regular registration fees vary by category and deadline. Late registration is offered with a $20 late fee; a T shirt is not guaranteed for late entrants.
Packet pickup and late registration are held prior to race day at a local packet pickup location. All required equipment must be provided by racers; bike helmets and personal flotation devices are required. Canoe and kayak rentals are available from local outfitters but must be reserved before race day.
