Run With Carl
Run With Carl is an annual Labor Day road race held in Bettendorf, Iowa, on Monday, September 7, 2026. The event takes place at Bettendorf Middle School, 2030 Middle Road, and is listed as the 32nd running of the race.
The event program includes multiple distances and a children’s fun run:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 5 Mile Run
- 1/2 Mile Fun Run for children 12 and under
Courses use city streets and the Bettendorf recreation path and include scenic sections and notable hills. Course protection, split timing, and water stops are provided. Timing and scoring are handled by a professional race timing company.
Packet pick-up and race-day packet distribution are conducted at Bettendorf Middle School. Long sleeve race shirts are offered with many race entries, and a short sleeve shirt is included with the fun run; shirt quantities are limited. There is also an option to purchase a shirt only.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 5 Mile events, and to the first place male and female master (60+) in each of those races. All children who complete the fun run receive a medal.
The event originated in 1995 and historically supported a memorial scholarship endowment. Local school foundations now continue the race tradition to support scholarships and educational opportunities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
