Run With Carl
Run With Carl is an annual Labor Day road race held in Bettendorf, Iowa, with the venue at Bettendorf Middle School (2030 Middle Road). The 2026 event is scheduled for Monday, September 7, 2026.
The event offers multiple race options:
- 5K run/walk
- 5 mile run
- 1/2 mile fun run for children 12 and under
Courses run on city streets and the Bettendorf recreation path and include hills. Course protection, split timing, and water stops are provided.
Registration fees apply. Main race entries include access to pre and post race events and a long sleeve race shirt (adult sizes XS to 2XL). The children s fun run includes a cotton short sleeve t-shirt (youth sizes YS to YL). Shirt quantities are limited. Packet pick-up and late registration take place at the Bettendorf Middle School cafeteria (Door 3W) on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5; race day packet pick-up and registration are also available.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 5 mile races, with first place masters awards for age 60 and older; all kids fun run participants receive a medal. Professional timing and scoring is provided by a race timing company.
The event began in 1995 and has supported a memorial scholarship program and local educational foundations. Each year one scholarship is awarded to a student from each of two local high schools who meets a minimum 2.3 GPA and demonstrates participation in school, sports, and community activities.
