Event Overview

Active Tameside, in collaboration with The Local Runners Podcast, presents the Tameside March 5k Festival & Family Mile. It features a series of graded 5k races and a shorter event for families.

Distances

  • 5k: A 5 km race requiring runners to be a minimum age of 13 on race day.
  • Family Mile: A 1 mile event for children aged 12 and under, where adults can run alongside them.

Course Information

The event takes place at the Tameside Cycle Circuit in Ashton-Under-Lyne. The 5k route consists of just over five laps on a flat, traffic-free circuit. Chip timing is provided for the 5k race. The Family Mile course is one and a half laps of the same circuit.

Schedule and Format

The 5k races are graded by predicted finish time, with separate start times. The proposed schedule begins with the Family Mile at 3:30 pm, followed by an open race for times between 25 and 45 minutes. Subsequent waves are for runners aiming for sub-25, sub-20, and sub-18 minute finishes.

Entry and Prizes

Entry for the 5k costs £12 for UK Athletics affiliated runners and £14 for unattached runners, plus an online booking fee. Race numbers are collected on the day. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three men and women in the 5k, and all runners receive a memento. The Family Mile entry is £4 per child plus a booking fee, or £5 for on-the-day entry. All children receive a finishers medal. The event is staged under UK Athletics rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
