Tally in the Valley Trail Race
The Tally in the Valley event takes place at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario. The race is organized by Happy Trails Racing and is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. It is based on a primary 7 km loop run through the Carolinian forest.
Several race formats are offered:
- 7 km: one loop.
- 21 km: three loops, with a 4-hour cutoff.
- 6 hour, 12 hour, and 24 hour: timed events where participants try to complete as many loops as possible.
- 100 miles: 23 loops, with a 30-hour cutoff. Finishers earn a custom belt buckle.
- The Gong Show: an elimination format where runners must complete one 7 km loop every hour. The event lasts up to 24 hours.
The 7 km loop consists mostly of groomed double-track trails with rolling hills. It features approximately 130 meters of elevation gain per loop. An aid station is located at the start/finish area. A self-serve water station will be set up at approximately the halfway point. The event is cup-less, so participants need to bring their own container.
All participants registered before July 1st receive a t-shirt. Finishers in the 7 km, 21 km, 6hr, 12hr, and 24hr events receive a medal, except those who complete 100 miles, who receive a belt buckle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
