Downhill Dash is a 5 km run held at Corktown Park, Ferguson Avenue South, Hamilton. The course is described as slightly downhill, tree covered, and traffic free for the entire 5 km. A Strava elevation map and a certified course profile are provided by the organizers.
Organizers report that runners average 45 to 60 seconds faster on this course than on other 5 km courses. Runners are transported by bus to the start line. Chip timing is used for results.
All finishers receive a custom finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three in 10 year age groups from 14 and under through 70 plus. Hot food and drinks are available after the race, followed by the awards ceremony. Multiple draw prizes are announced.
This event is race number 3 in the Hausers Pharmacy Hamilton Running Series, with points allocated 3 2 1 in the age groups and overall divisions and added at the final race of the year.
