Tails on the Trail 5K & 1-Mile Wag & Walk
Tails on the Trail is an event along the Old Plank Road Trail in Matteson, Illinois, at 21800 Central Ave. The program offers two participation options that accommodate runners, walkers, families, and friendly leashed pets.
Participants may choose between:
- 5K - professionally timed race for runners.
- 1 Mile - relaxed Wag & Walk for participants, families, and leashed pets.
Registration opens 02/13/2026 and closes 08/29/2026. Registration fees listed are $45.00 for the 5K and $30.00 for the 1-Mile Wag & Walk. Entry covers participation in the selected distance.
Proceeds from the event benefit the South Suburban Humane Society. Funds help provide medical treatment, spay and neuter services, food, and daily care for animals awaiting adoption. The event combines an organized running option with an accessible walk option so participants can select the experience that matches their pace and comfort level.
