Tacoma Independence Day 5K
The Tacoma Independence Day 5K is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026. The event is a chip timed, point to point 5K that begins near N 37th Street and N Vassault Street in Tacoma and finishes at Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park. The course is described as fast, flat and downhill and carries USATF certification WA23025RMB.
Race distances:
- 5K - chip timed, point to point, finishes at Owen Beach
- Kids 1K - out and back, starts and finishes at Owen Beach
Registration includes a finisher medal for the 5K or a finisher ribbon for the Kids 1K, a tech tank top for 5K participants with a size guarantee by June 15, and a collective bib. Team discounts apply at team sizes of 4, 10, and 15 with a $5 refund processed at each threshold. A portion of event proceeds goes to the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County. Entry fees are non refundable and transfers or rollovers are not permitted. All participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver.
