Syracuse Ugly Sweater 5K
The Syracuse Ugly Sweater 5K is a holiday-themed event held at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool. Now in its 12th year, this event marks the transition from the Thanksgiving holiday to the Christmas season. The 5K course takes participants through the Lights on the Lake display.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 3.1 Miles: Running race for Team Santa.
- 3.1 Miles: Running race for Team Grinch.
- 3.1 Miles: Yeti Walk for walkers only.
- 3.1 Miles: Virtual race options for remote participation during December.
The walking event is a new addition for 2026. Participants in the Santa and Grinch running teams receive a custom long-sleeve shirt and a finisher medal. Those registered for the 5K Yeti Walk receive a custom winter beanie and a finisher medal instead of a shirt. Virtual participants who cannot attend the packet pickup can have their gear and medals mailed to them.
An awards ceremony follows the event at the Cobblestone in Liverpool. This ceremony includes recognition for overall winners and age group leaders, as well as prizes for best-in-dress costumes.
