Syracuse Run/Walk for Recovery
The First Annual Syracuse Adult & Teen Challenge Run/Walk for Recovery is scheduled for June 13, 2026 at Onondaga Lake Park. The event takes place at the Saw Mill Creek Pavilion near Willow Bay Park, 3858 Long Branch Road, Liverpool, NY 13090. It features a traditional 5K run or walk and a registration fee of $35.
The event supports New York Adult & Teen Challenge, a Christian residential discipleship program that works with people facing life-controlling issues, including addiction, anxiety, and depression. The program’s stated mission emphasizes four stages: to know Christ, grow in Christ, serve Christ, and share what Christ has done. Centers in Syracuse (men and women), Rochester, Buffalo, and Long Island have reopened.
Fundraising is integral to the event. The program is not supported by insurance or government funding and relies on community generosity and fundraising events. Funds raised through this event go directly to sponsoring individuals who enter the residential program. Participants may engage in peer-to-peer fundraising, and prizes are planned based on fundraising achievements. A t-shirt order has already been placed and organizers are no longer accepting t-shirt sizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
