Sycamore Pumpkin Run
The Sycamore Pumpkin Run is an annual athletic event held in Northern Illinois during the autumn season. The event features a standard 10 km road race and a separate 1 mile Family Fun Pumpkin Run. It has established itself as a regional tradition, regularly drawing a field of over 1,200 to 1,500 participants.
The event is known for its festive atmosphere where many participants choose to run in costumes, including superheroes and other creative outfits. The 10 km route is described as an iconic course that takes runners through the local area to view the fall colors. Finishers who are of legal age have access to beer at the conclusion of the race.
Participants can access several amenities and services associated with the event:
- 10 km run
- 1 mile family fun run
The race is supported by a wide variety of community and commercial partners, including local medical centers, financial institutions, and municipal departments such as the Sycamore Park District and the Sycamore Police and Fire Departments. Post-race activities often include recovery services such as foam rolling provided by physical therapy specialists. Race results are tracked electronically, with archives available for participants to view their performance from previous years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
