Event overview

The Swamp Stomper 50k/25k is a trail race held at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park in Millington, Tennessee on January 17, 2026. The event has run annually since 2006. Registration closes January 14. Cutoff times are 9 hours for the 50K and 8 hours for the 25K; cutoff times are strictly enforced for runner and volunteer safety.

  • 50K (double out-and-back, 32.6 miles, ~3000 ft gain)
  • 25K (out-and-back, 16.3 miles, ~1500 ft gain)

Course and logistics

The course is approximately 99% single-track and uses the Pioneer Springs Trail (blue blazes), Woodland Trail (red loop), and Chickasaw Bluff Trail (white blazes). Aid stations for the 50K are at about miles 3, 4.7, 9.6, 13.3, 16.3, 19.3, 21, 25.9, and 29.6. Aid stations for the 25K are at about miles 3, 4.7, 9.6, and 13.3. There is a single drop bag location at the Start/Finish by the aid station for 50K runners. Packet pickup is available at the Start/Finish on race morning.

Awards, proceeds and facilities

All finishers receive a custom finisher's medal. The top three male and female finishers in each distance receive custom awards. Special prizes are offered at specific aid stations. The event is run as a not-for-profit; proceeds support trail maintenance and park efforts. The park offers six two-bedroom cabins that sleep up to six people.
