Sustainable Streets Race New Orleans
The Sustainable Streets Race Series is a national initiative by Global Green that seeks to build recurring community engagement and funding for local sustainability and resilience projects. The organization’s vision is to launch annual endurance and community race events in more than 30 cities where Sustainable Neighborhood Solutions are active.
The flagship event in New Orleans includes the following distances:
- 5k
- 1-mile community fun run/walk
Race Day features a raffle of donated items, a community farmers market with fresh locally grown foods and artisan goods, a food drive for NOLA residents in need, and live music from local bands. The event is presented as a local celebration of resident resilience and city recovery while connecting residents, local businesses, and national partners.
Proceeds from the New Orleans race directly support community projects in areas such as community revitalization, food desert alleviation, sustainability efforts, community recovery, affordable housing initiatives, and climate resilience programs.
